Schenectady’s Transfinder Wins Best Software Award at Industry Conference

SCHENECTADY – Transfinder is a Schenectady company specializing in the manufacture of software used by school districts across North America.
So it was no surprise last month when the company won Best Software at the STN Expo in Reno, Nevada, an industry conference hosted by School Transportation News, a leading trade publication.
Tony Corpin, president and publisher of STN, which has tens of thousands of readers, said Transfinder won the top prize based on the company’s product called Routefinder PLUS, which combines all of its bus-routing apps into one. platform.
“These new capabilities captured the attention of school travel professionals at the largest school travel conference in North America with more than 1,200 attendees,” Corpin said.
Other prizes were awarded to recognize companies with the best ‘green’ technology such as electric buses, as well as prizes for health and wellness technology and the best hardware.
Transfinder CEO Antonio Civitella said the school district’s transportation market has changed rapidly since the pandemic forced many schools away due to government-mandated closures. And when schools reopened, they faced extreme shortages of bus drivers and pressure from school districts to save money and improve efficiency.
At the same time, Transfinder was able to add new features never offered in the past, such as live turn-by-turn instructions for bus drivers and instant information about students expected at each stop. These two characteristics especially help school districts recruit new drivers who may have been apprehensive about taking a job where they had little experience.
“This award demonstrates that Transfinder’s suite of solutions meets real-world needs today while anticipating what schools will need in the future,” Civitella said.
