SaaS company Zoho to hire 2,000 employees in engineering, technology and product development

New Delhi: At a time when several startups, companies are laying off employees en masse, a Software as a Service (SaaS) company aims to add employees in India as well as across the globe. Chennai-based Zoho Corp plans to hire at least 2,000 employees in engineering, technology and product development.
Zoho is looking to hire more software developers, quality assessment engineers, web developers, designers, product marketers, writers, technical support engineers, and sales executives. The company has already started hiring locally and plans to launch development programs such as Zoho Schools of Learning in these locations as they expand their operations.
As the SaaS major plans to grow organically and expand further into other geographies, Prashant Ganti, Head of Product, Tax, Accounting and Payroll, Zoho, told Economic Times: “We have followed the transnational localization approach, where our global expansion happens by hiring locally in the countries where we operate.”

With nearly 10,000 employees worldwide, Zoho has a presence in India and the United States and has recently entered markets such as Egypt, Jeddah and Cape Town. Now, Zoho also aims to harness talent in rural India.

“Most talent in urban areas comes from villages and small towns. Companies need to seize opportunities where the talent is and invest in upskilling,” Ganti said.

The SaaS company has rural centers in Tamil Nadu and is looking for locations in Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities in Uttar Pradesh to set up an office.

Ganti also shed light on the company’s plans for fiscal year 2023, saying Zoho would continue to invest in a vertically integrated technology stack. “We are also investing in improving our audio/video capabilities, which have become critical to all business functions. In India, we are also investing in rural revival initiatives and creating a high-tech ecosystem in the country,” he noted.

It had recorded a 22.3% increase in revenue to Rs 5,230 crore in FY21, according to documents filed with the Registrar of Companies. For the same year, Zoho’s net profit was Rs 1,917.70 crore, more than double that of the previous year, making it arguably India’s most profitable unicorn.
