SAN FRANCISCO, May 13, 2021 / CNW / – Boast.ai, a FinTech platform that helps businesses automate the tedious process of preparing and funding research and development (R&D) tax credit claims by United States and tax credits for scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED) Canada, today announced the addition of a new board member and three new executives to its executive team, including the CTO, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
Laurie Schultz joins the Boast.ai board of directors. She led the transformation of their global business by mobilizing talent towards category disruption, successfully repositioning the company into one of the From Canada Top 100 and Best Managed Employers. With over 30 years of experience, Schultz has also held executive positions in several multi-billion dollar companies, including Sage and Intuit, where she doubled her revenues and profits.
“R&D is the lifeblood of the modern economy, and innovative companies should be able to access the tax credits to which they are entitled without the red tape and delays,” said Schultz. “I love what the founders Alex popa and Lloyed Lobo have done to streamline and produce the process, combined with a unique recurring business model, an exceptional team and an enviable culture, while keeping the gift of community at the heart of the business. I am delighted to join their mission and help Boast.ai become a global leader in R&D tax credits. “
As part of the company’s continued investment in product development, Boast.ai has appointed Tara Janke as CTO to lead all aspects of product development, technology, data, security and user experience. Janke has over 25 years of product management and engineering experience with high-performing teams and growing global software companies across multiple industries, including seven years with sales tax software company Avalara (NYSE : AVLR) where she incubated the EMEA engineering team, from seven to over 100 engineers and three to nine product lines, doubling revenues year on year.
“Alex and Lloyed have created a tremendous opportunity to revolutionize an industry to become the de facto standard for tax credit submission,” Janke said. “Boast’s technology makes the process simple and efficient, allowing its customers to focus on supercharging their growth. I am delighted to help them advance existing technology and build the next generation of Boast products.”

R&D is a valuable form of capital to accelerate innovation, but most companies either don’t claim it and leave money on the table due to the associated bureaucracy. Boast gets it back quickly and easily for them, which allows CEOs to reinvest that capital to accelerate innovation and product growth. “
